Does anyone know what the actual displacement of the Fly 150 is? Is it exactly 150cc, or something like 149cc? I just found one at a local dealer for $2500 OTD. It has 7 miles on it, and also a few nicks and scratches. It has never been registered and comes with a full warranty. All the dealer would tell me is "150cc" The reason I need a precise number is for legal reasons. Here, and in all neighboring states, to be freeway legal, a scooter/motorcycle must have at least 150cc. But it is common practice for bikes to have a few less cc than their name implies. This could be the cheap freeway legal scooter I've been looking for if it really is 150cc. I realize that 150cc does not mean freeway safe, but it does remove the worry of being busted by the cops.
The Piaggio junk mail says 151cc....... http://piaggio.com.au/product/fly-150/ ........but 62.6bore x 48.6stroke = 149.6cc That extra 1cc or 2cc depends on the local rules I guess! Having ridden 1000km on my 125cc Leader engine Sportcity on the highway, the Fly 150 should sit on a real 60mph (probably 66-70 indicated) on the flat with no wind, all day using about 3/4 throttle, and add 3 or 4 mph if fitted with medium windscreen.
A local brochure I have says 151cc, seen the same for the Kymco 150 scoots (Super8 for example). It really doesn't matter how much it is, what maters is what it says in the documents that come with the bike, and that can vary, even if we all know it shouldn't. Just ask the current owner of the bike to show/e-mail you the picture. Might end up with a 149cc bike registered as a 150.
Since it is at a dealer, ask them what THEY will put on the paperwork! If 150cc or higher take it if not, walk away!!! Bet they make the papers says 150!!!
