We live in central Maine and do a lot of day trips around the state- occasionally venturing farther. Sometimes I take a lot of pics, sometimes just a few. So figured I would keep a running thread of our adventures for anybody that is interested.

    Index:
    2013 Rides:
    Gaspe/Quebech

    2012 Rides
    Unity Train Station
    Aroostook RIP/Northern Maine/New Brunswick
    Abbot to Greenville Trail ride
    Pittsfield to Binham Trail Ride
    New Brunswick
Shoeins B-day- Dirt ride from home

    2011 Rides:
    Greenville-Jackman-The forks
    Castine-Deer Isle-Stonington
    Solon/Bingham
    Belgrade Lakes
    Sunrise Trail, More Sunrise Trail

Starting with first rides from this year- March 19- Plymouth, ME:

April first we had the worst snow storm of the year- about a foot of snow- terrible driving- within 2 days roads were completely clear- we decided not to plow as we figured it would melt and didn't want to tear things up- so the biggest adventure was just getting out of the driveway:
just out for an hour or two locally- didn't stop for any pics....

Rode up to Greenville for lunch at Kelly's landing-

    Mooshead lake:

I love riding while the snowmobilers are still out:

    views from Kelly's landing:

Route 15 to Jackman- some places we rode through still had over 2 feet of snow- but roads were nice and clear:

From Jackman rode down through the forks- stunning views with the snow and the trees still bare- but all of the pull off areas were snowed in, so no picks- but lots of fun riding the twisties- stopped at the forks- less snow in the rest area- then gassed up and headed home

Met up with our friend Dan in Old Town- decided to hit the dirt. I tend to lack confidence on some of the tougher stuff- so shoein and I do a bit of Hike & Bike- fortunately Dan was pretty patient with this, and it gave me a good chance to take some pics & videos of the guys:

This is where we turned around- Jerry coming back from scouting up ahead:

Dan applying mud to his new bike:

shoein bringing my wr back through- shame he's not having any fun here :D (he actually loves hike and bike 'cause he gets to ride it twice)

Glad to hear you enjoyed the pics! Lobster is my favorite :raabia

He certainly is enjoying it- been seeing a lot of wheelies lately- even when Dan got on for a ride, I saw that front end come up :lol3

Thanks! Hard to say how the roads up that way will be- I'm not sure if they have melted all their snow yet, and probly will depend also on how much rain we get between now and then. Where are you coming from?

Thanks for sharing. We're thinking of a New England moto trip during the second week of September; including Maine. What kind of temps should we expect and prepare for?

I just love poking around some of those small roads by the coast,
that overlook in Brooksville looks familiar.

Great pictures, your making me jealous as I sit here in MA, but will be up over Memorial Day. I guess I just have to wait.

Thanks! My plan is to continue to add pics as we ride and I take them. Probably most of the coastal pics will be early spring and fall, as it tends to get crazy with tourists in cages down that way in the summer. Fortunately, there is still a lot of state to explore in the summertime :D

September is one of my favorite months to ride- but it is kind of like this time of year here- temps can run from 40s to 90s- anything from cold & wet to bright and sunny. We can even get a frost overnight at that time of the year:vardy Hope you have a great trip!

I am glad to your rides. My brother lives in Blue Hill and I have been interested in riding around Maine while I visiting. My brother works for the University of Maine for the GOMOOS group that keeps up the GOMOOS Bouys. I have a picture of it on my flickr page. The picture of the R/V Argo Maine is interesting, it is a boat they have used to deploy some of the bouys.

    Anyway. Have a good time.
