Part 1. For the last couple of years one of our suppliers has "entertained" us at Phillip Island in a VIP marquee on the pit lane roof. This year was no exception other than the weather being typical PI. Wet, cold and miserable. Enough background here are the pictures. It was obvious from the start nothing much was going to happen. I resorted to taking photos of the monitors and the hostess and the food no action in the back of the pits a rather ordinary Hardy's Cab Sav He's the driver but it was only lunch time and he stopped drinking at this point Decided to walk over to the trade display pavilion The two up Ducati (look closely there is a bike in that shot!) The trade display Got bored with the trade display and headed back for dessert via the pits for the support riders
Part 2. Eventually about 3pm they sent the 125's out to see if the track was safe. These guys were not being paid enough imo Security trying to keep his hands warm using the pump exhaust heat Lukey Heights was, ah, empty Some other people who were not getting paid enough and finally the big boys went out to play Lorenzo did 7 laps before saying enough. Stoner found something resembling traction Rossi's office Practice finished and I went back inside where everybody was having a great time Gratuitous photo of a Nikon camera So about 5pm it's time to leave and what do we see in the pits? The Honda bunny! and I do not want to be one of the plebs trying to get out of that car park on Sunday afternoon. Link to all my Phillip Island 2010 photos here.
nice work there K1W1 we were there a few years ago now when the second race of the Super's was rained off but while they were racing (in the rain) - man, it was impressive!
My bro and a couple of mates game over from Wgtn for that, drove down to the Island from my place in the rental racer wearing shorts and tee shirts with no wet weather gear.
