Ive found relatively little info on the interwebs about this specific flavor of blue KTM. So, now a place to consolidate info, ask questions, point out the differences in this and the citrus version. For starters, on the FE501, the 'berg has that the citrus does not: -New WP 4CS 4 chambered fork -Machined triple clamps -Plastic Skid Plate included -Plastic Subframe -Different airbox configuration that is part of plastic subframe -Larger Tank capacity due to lack of emissions gear -Blue DID Dirt Star Wheels -Lack of kick starter -Different seat -Perty blue plastics... Anything else. Experiences to relate? I'd rather this doesn't become a thread to lament the change from the 70 Deg motor...it was great but....onward.
No factory steet legal model which is becoming an issue as more info related to VIN #s is looked at by some states.
Yeah...I think the 70 Degree has a place and wish they could've continued it, but sounds like it just wasn't economically feasible right now. One more thing that's different on the Blue vs orange. The triple clamp offset is 20 on the berg, 22 on the KTM...I think...
Ok...so I started getting the clothes off and I'm stumped... I'm told the KTM fuel tank won't fit, but when I look at these photos and the KTM 500 XCW photos, they look identical. Can anyone tell me why the Acerbis 5.3 gal fuel tank won't fit on this bike? Who has told you that the KTM tanks won't fit, and did they actually try it? The only difference might be in the area where it mates to the subframe. Best bet would be finding somebody locally or a dealer and then giving it a try yourself, there is a very good chance that it should work IMO.
Well, I actually called Acerbis and they didn't know. They referred me to JustGasTanks.com who I called and they said, that it didn't cross reference and someone had tried it and it didn't work. I'm kind of a "why?" person...I'd like to know what makes it NOT fit. If my curiosity gets the best of me, I'll just order the tank and if it doesn't work, it'll be up in the flea market.
The first thing I can see is the angle of the radiator filler. I have a '13 XC-W 500 and the filler sticks straight out of the radiator. yours is angled back.
From what I hear the tank does work, you just have to run the KTM shrouds. They make them in blue so it's not really a big issue.
I gotta retract this statement as I just stuck my foot in my mouth. Itook a look at my radiator today and just like yours, the filler is swept back. .
Anyone checked mileage for their Husaberg ? I'm also looking at tank opts but if I can get 100 mile loops I'm probably good.
I emailed the manufacturers of Safari Tanks during the week and the reply I got back was that they don't make a tank that fits the fe350 and they implied they had no intention of making one... They just suggested that I try www.justgastanks.com which I had already checked and they didn't list one
somehow, and I do not seem to be able to find where at the moment. But I am pretty sure that I read it on here somewhere whenI was doing the research before buying my 501 that the KTM one would fit but you had to trim the seat.
I may have a new KTM tank for sale soon ;-) decided to go ahead and just buy the KTM one and I will see what it takes to make it fit .

Has anybody successfully installed the KTM 500 Acerbis tank? If so, is there enough room for the fan?
I read a ride report on advrider, and one of the guys had a new FE501 with a clear 5.3G acerbis tank on it... can't remember which one it was but I believe he was in europe.
