Dang Jim... that's a heck of an offer... and I'd jump all over it if I 1) knew anything about mounting a hack to a V Strom... sorry, my rig is mounted on a Bonneville... easy peasy mounting on that one. 2) liked snow and snow skiing... I don't, see #3. 3) didn't actually "stove up" and my personal "molecular motion" grind to a halt, at any temps below +60 degrees... what do you mean that shorts and flip flops aren't appropriate winter wear?? :norton
I hope you get a knowledgeable taker to your offer...

I'm not a guru, but as a former DL1000 guy, and with Jay's instructions, doesn't sound too hard, especially if it's one of Jay's subframes.

So . . . what kind of subframe is it?

What sidecar is it? Is it that Dnepr you were going to Las Vegas to get?

You say you have all the components--you mean the right length struts?

    Got any pics?

no pics as of now.. yes its a DMC subframe and a dnepr hack.. i have 2 pieces of pipe for the struts but they are not cut to length.. have a bunch of whatever they are called thingies to connect em with.. supposedly everything that was needed but not really 100% sure..

Well, you better spread everything out on the floor and post a pic. Nobody's gonna want to make TWO trips because you didn't have all the parts. Like for instance you say you have 2 pieces of pipe. You need 4 struts. Here is a pic of a DMC kit. Is this what you have?

For the Dnepr there would not be the "A" arms. In stead the front lower mount would be cut off of the sidecar frame and a pinch tube type clamp welded in its place. A new lower rear pinch tube type clamp would be welded about 8 inches forward of the current location for the lower rear mount. Then we would slide in a part we call a clamp. This also has pinch tubes on the end of it set at 70 degree's. Then into the clamp a part we call a boss slides in. The end of the boss has threads for the 5/8 inch heim joints that attach to the clevis on the lower mounts on the bike.
We provide drawings as to how to cut off the front lower mount and weld in the new pinch tube type clamps.
BTW, the Ural is very similar to the Dnepr however the frame tubes are different diameters.
The "A" arms are what we use on our M72 type sidecars on the V stroms and the R1100 and up BMW GS bikes. We would also use "A" arms if we were doing a Ural or Dnepr in house.
