Pisgah Forest Ridin'

_anatic screwed with this post: so he can find the dang maps without fumblin' all over the internets.


Went campin' last week in the Pisgah National Forest. Left Wed. about noon an rode south over Crabtree Mountain, through Canton, NC to the Blue Ridge Parkway.




From there I headed down to Cove Creek (off FS475) an unloaded. Stopped at the trail head to the base of Looking Glass Rock on the way into town for supplies.



Finally back an with everything set up it was time to go play.

On Cuttle's Secret Road (FS229).





Stopped at a parking area an hiked in to where Farlow Gap Trail crossed. Yes I could get in there, NO I would not recommend it!

The wild Azaleas were still blooming up there.



Then rode to Cathey's Creek Falls.





Then back to camp. More later.

Looks like a good time. You've got some great riding around there. So great that I'm headed that way next week

should have told me....we prob rode by you your camp on 475 - twice

Next time you go up pm me, I'm 5-10 mins from the forest entrance at bent creek, and am ready to go do some moto camping

I SOOO wanted to meet up with y'all Sun., but I was beat! Took till 1:30 to get packed. I wasn't really alert enough to be riding so I took it real easy through town an out to the house. I was back in Cove Creek with a bunch of non-ridin' friends or I would have at least ed as y'all went by.

Will do, but thats it for me for a while. Played for the last month, now I need to get some stuff done around the house.

Thur. I met Aarrff about 9:30.



He showed me all around his back yard, but the only place we stopped was at Horseshoe Rock.



Fri. I took it easy, then road to Paradise Fall an spent the afternoon swimming an laying around in the sun.





Sat. morning we walked up to the falls on Cove Creek.



Then later went to Courthouse Falls.







Spent the rest of the afternoon laying around on the rocks at Cove Creek then stayed up 1/2 the night keeping the fire company. Sun. dawned an I realized I was in NO shape to try an keep up with the FF on the group ride out of Mills River. So I pulled every thing out into the sun to dry, got packed an took an easy ride back home. It was a great time, but is there really a bad time to be in the woods?

Went out again today. I met Aarrff, Luke15 an ktmMike in Fines Creek. We took off for the "Tabernacle of the Sacred Bleeding Heart of Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration".

In The Gulf.


It was an IFR kinda morning.


Mike showed us a road that... well, Mike showed us a lot of roads.

So this is what you do with the kids pets.

Stopped to eat in Hartford, I always forget to take pics of the food. The place was over run with rafters, one guy asked me if our bikes were rentals. Should of told him no, we're UT fans. (Hey, can we get that smile with orange koolaid?)

Headed home on Round Mountain Rd.


Back at Trust.


Another great day in WNC.

Left early yesterday to ride the MC tourist trap part of WNC,ETn. We were suppose to lead a bunch from the flatlands, but they all bailed. So we went anyway, it wasn't as bad as I thought.

Made a nice run on the Cherohala, here discussing who's turn it is to lead.


Ran into Klaviator in Tellico .


Came back through Deals Gap. Had a pretty good run there too. Very low expectations so I was pleasantly surprised. On NC28.



Came back on the Parkway, not to much traffic there either, stopped at Waterrock Knob.





Headed on home.

Oh, an one from Fri. night. Initiating a new future rider. Sorry Mom, this will cause problems later... in about ten years!

OK here we go again, went to the Rapture Rendezvous Redoo last weekend. Yes a Party Boss Productions event so you know we all had a great time!

Got up about day light an KyleB had the coffee ready. 50 cups set the night before!


After breakfast I took off for the house to swap out for the dirty bike. Advtenn and rmarkr decided they could tolerate the 25 miles of pavement to the other side of the county. Oh wait, that was 208 an 209, never mind! Then we went around behind the house for some big fun.


Wet lose rocks an slimy leaves, whats not to love?


For the record Mark road his bike up from Hilton Head an then went everywhere I did on a bike 1/2 the weight with knobbies. ALL WEEKEND!!

I wasn't fast enough to catch advtenn's bike takin' a nap.


Sorry no pics of me tryin' to keep Katie awake on the hill just up from here. Finally gave up after the third try.
