Started to lace up the front and the spokes were wrong so I polished up the old ones and they look great.

Back rim and the spokes were not quite right either but I made them work,

Had to cut the long ones,

    Fresh set of Dunlops,

Had to use the Stubby's so i don't scratch the rims, They are much more difficult to use than regular tire irons because they are so thick but really don't scratch them at all.

Sprocket is in good shape just needed the shine put to em

Painted the engine, which had just been rebuilt at the last race of the year so is good to go!

Suspension was sent out for a freshen up and should be back in a day or two,

Thats where I am at, when the frame gets back I can start to assemble which is the fun part.

Love what your doing with the CR. Your doing a great job, and it makes me want to get to work on my 89 YZ250. Just have to get another project out of the way and then I can get started on mine. :D Can't wait to see yours when it is finished.

I bought the 89 YZ for sentimental reasons. I rode an 89 YZ250 from the age of 15-19 and loved that bike. Its funny that this bike that is over 20 years old now is actually in better shape than the YZ I had when I was in high school and it was only a couple of years old then, but had been abused and was about worn out when I got it.. I have also always been a fan of the YZ and would like to have a new YZ250 to play with. You have some good looking YZ's there. Your son's looks great for a 99.

I worked on the Mini's all day but did clean up the airbox, someone drilled holes in it and then duct taped the holes up. I am ging to try and find some "soffit" vents to stick in the holes so it looks better, we'll see what I can come up with?

Sweet! I'd really like to go see some vintage MX races this summer. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Google AHRMA to see if they hold races in your area( I'm sure they do) or stop by the local track and ask around.

Most tracks here in the Northeast offer vintage classes during there regular race days, go check it out and then just look for an old guy with a Bultaco Tshirt and a smile from ear to ear and he'll fill you in.

    Good luck!

Took the frame to my buddy's body shop only to find out they got rid of the coarse sand and replaced it with fine cause it is easier on the guns :cry

2.5 hrs later and I got a lil more to go..
