Features I'm interested was: * few bolts to remove fairing * no cables * no nuts (use self lock nuts)
Looks good, how have you made the fairing? foam mold or bits of roadbike fairing stuck together? Looks a bit high, maybe it's just the lack of the mudguard. How hard did you have to whack the bash plate to make it that shape
I wish I had ability to do something like that. The fairing was sourced, my job was to strip the bike build the bracket (not that easy for me at least), install the new lightning. The fairing is made by a guy in Lithuania, out of fiberglass, modeled by an artists. Well the lack of mudguard certainly accounts for most of that. I like how it looks once all is in place.
A picture of my first bracket, this is version 0.1 which is meant to verify clearances and stability of whole thing, as well as accommodate lights.
You need to shrink those pics a bit, I can't actually see your work on one screen so it's a bit hard to take in.
The BMW in it's natural environment Looks good though, I like the colours. Did you have to weld a bracket on the frame to mount the fairing etc? Cheers Clint
i believ e have some pics on Ktm environment .... Bracket goes like this welded like this where you can also see the BM on Ktoom natural environment
Ow! That was harsh! Especially since my bike has spent most of the last 3 months in the shed It was interesting to see the inside of Colebatch's motor which has done about the same km's as mine, quite a bit less wear than the 640. All that extra metal they put in obviously does something good. I'm not complaining too much though, 95K km without a breakdown on what was, when I bought it, the most powerful bike in it's class is ok by me. Cheers Clint
Yeah not too bad at all. I have a Ktm on the garage as well I do complain about mine from time to time ... although in the end its a good bike ... with cheap suspension the main issue ... the rest is fairly simple and not a lot of work So you haven't got your bike running yet?
My 640 is running, smooth & strong , I sparked it back up last week, done about 300km on the rebuild now & it is going very nicely. Hopefully all good for another 6yrs of fun. Cheers Clint
Pablo - saw your bike in the flesh today - looks cool - momentarily thought such a cockpit would look good on my 1150 - then realised that bike and rider would remain unchanged
Mate, its not out of need I'd done it ... purely cause I like it ... so you can do it on yours without need to adjust rider not that you need it. I've seen you going to the same places I had been and heard of you going to many more One day may be able to get a real rally bike in the meantime I customise what I have. Also have fun in the process learning to do some things and to work on the bike. The copkit is temporary. I need to get a better version of the bracket, with better holding for the fairing, speedo, also plastic weld lateral holding points, etc :eek1 ...
Next on my list is to plastic weld the side support for the fairing, to enhance stability ... this is first plastic welding I do on something real so won't be great but hopefully will do the job
Today received the front fender and did quick installation ... will need to build a bracket to adapt it to the clamp ...
