I do think cycling is the best overall exercise that you can do as far as abuse on your body is concerned... this holds try as were all are getting older :nod Hell, I have not been able to jog for years... plays hell on my knees :cry |
Screw my bad lower back, I bit the bullet and just did 20 in one hour.
Park was so crowded it was like an obstacle course though, I almost sliced a little blonde jogger gal in half....:huh |

I going to take a ride this evening--about 2-3 hours--on my touring bike. On that heavy thing there will be no bustin my ass--just a nice easy ride. It's amazing how much I have found on the slow easy rides. Just a little of the stuff: 16" set of channel locks 3' of new 3/16" chain 1 new rat tail file combination set of wire cutter and stripper 12" aluminum pipe wrench new 3' crow bar money keys 2 pair of alligator cowboy boots (good condition) pliers countless tarp straps punch and lots of other crap. Anyone else find much on rides? |

There's LOTS of Pro cyclist/triathletes in Sandy Eggo. It ain't uncommon to ride with Gold medal winners, etc. There's some SERIOUSLY fast individuals where I've been. Rode with one pro that was joining the Seals. Fucker had one speed. Don't remember what it was, but it was farging FAST. Not quite 30mph IIRC. Held that uphill, downhill, headwinds, etc. Towed a few of us around the back side of Quantico for a while that day. It was easy to get him by varying the speeds... :evil He didn't have the jump that crit racers do. I've been doing this so long that if someone wants to go faster and I'm on an easy day, I just (mentally) wave buh-bye. I've got a pretty set training plan lots of times and if going fast ain't on the agenda, I don't go fast. Period. My slow is getting quicker. :augie That's what riding more'n 1x week'll do to ya. M |
