Cross Nats
Cross Nationals start tomorrow. The weather is really nice out here in Providence RI and it looks like it's going to stay nice all weekend. Tomorrow is mostly masters racing follwed by elite men and juniors on Saturday and elite women and U-23 racers on Sunday.
I'm not racing but I'll have lots of pictures. Here's a couple from the pre-ride today. http://PlanB.smugmug.com/photos/116895073-M.jpg http://PlanB.smugmug.com/photos/116894977-M.jpg http://PlanB.smugmug.com/photos/116892434-L.jpg |
Bump for some morning freeride video.
http://www.glumbert.com/media/freeride My buddy just got a new/used road bike, 05 Cannondale Six13. He is thinking about selling his Cannondale Tandem MTB now since his wife isnt riding with him on it much. Its a LG/SM if anyone is interested. Im glad he decided to keep his Cannondale Lefty so I can still MTB with him.:freaky But keeping up with him on the pavement just became a lot harder... |

I read today that J Page is racing? I wonder how he'll do?
Wish I were there, watching, not racing. Looking forward to pics and a full report from behind the scenes, B. Thanks. f. Quote:

Damn I suck.
Been two weeks since my last ride, was doing alright but the new job let's me out too late,. etc, etc. excuses excuses... Finally motivated today, 46 degrees quite windy but dry out. Pulled 26 miles at a quick pace. Anyone else have phlegm problems/congestion? Whenever it's cold out I seem to have an unlimited supply of runny nose, phlegm. What gives? |
It's normal.

Ran into a car speeding down Puke Hill in Fort Lee. The bike is getting fixed right now. New front wheel, handle bar tape, (the front fork seems to be allright) and a new helmet and a new jacket. If I'm not sore by tomorrow, I'll be riding again.:deal I think I am too old for a carbon / Al frame. Should I just get a steel frame? :lol3 / |

Glad yer feeling good there Slash. Wrecks hurt. Ask me how I know! Guy in the store the other day was raving about his Giant carbon frame. If ya like compacts, look at them. There's a lot of guys in this area riding Speciailized Roubaix and Tarmac frames (duh, they're made here!) that like em. Personal opinion: if yer not 'racing' to use the term loosely (ie: not out on fast group rides, 'Tuesday Night Worlds' etc) then get a nice steel frame. Sycip, Strong, Landshark, etc. Go custom if you can. It DOES make a difference. More steel guys: Sachs, Vanilla, Gunnar, Waterford, Teesdale, Rivendell (but PLEASE don't :bert) HTH, Heal fast! M |
I went on a ride today with my girlfriend to Old Town, Alexandria. It was her first time on her new bike that my brother got for her. She had her last one stolen along with her helmet. We were riding along the path, having a great time when all of a sudden, I turn around and she was on the ground! She slipped off the pedal, fell and smacked her head on the pavement. :eek1 Although she wasen't wearing a helmet, thankfully she was fine. Some people stopped and called an ambulance for her. They came, checked her out and said she was ok. Just a few cuts and bruises. Man! That really freaked me out! She is going to the bike shop this week to get a new helmet, and I'm going to start to wear mine all the time now.

Glad she's alright. Stupid question but does she have toe clips, or clip ons? Probably not and might not be ready, but check to see she's wearing a grippy soled shoe, and pedals have some teeth. My sister did that when she was a kid and her front teeth went through her upper lip, she needed plastic surgery. Bit her tongue up real bad too. |
