Car style tires for GS?

O.K. I"ve been lurking for a while and am edging closer and closer to hacking my GS.
Can a different profile tire be used on the GS...more car like tires for longer thread life?
If so, what type of car-like tires are available for the big GS?

Since they don't lean I would think it would work well.
