Can the new UCE Royal Enfield Bullet 500 cruise at 65-70mph?
Just wondering if anybody knows how the new UCE Royal Enfields run? I was curious if they could cruise at 65-70mph comfortably for long periods? I know they only put out something like 27.5 HP or so, but I've also heard they have better highway speed capabilities versus previous Enfields. What do you guys think?

Supposedly. http://www.enfieldmotorcycles.com/fo...ic,2980.0.html |
A recent visit to a NW dealer suggests that it's still not recommended. Given that 75 mph is very close to the top speed, the suggested 55-60 mph for a cruising speed is perhaps more realistic.

Just got back from a longish ride cruising around 60 on my AVL. I did 65 some, and even hit 75- but I was a nervous wreck. Given that, I'd guess a constant 65mph should be doable. Stated horepowers are not what shows up at the rear wheel on a dyno, however.
One of the reasons I didn't get a UCE was they haven't been tested through long-term use. I'm waiting to see if that decision will be regretable, or a relief. |
Yes, they can. They top out around 85mph and were designed with 70mph cruising ability as a requisite. My brother has abotu 6000 miles on his G5 Bullet with the UCE motor and it has cruised long periods of 65-75mph without issue. I think that the vibration level is more pleasant at 60-65mph though.
I would bet that switching to the freer flowing exhaust and then going up one tooth on the gearbox sprocket would make 70mph even happier. Eamon |

The new Enfields seem to have a much bigger demand than they can supply right now. I'm glad about that. They look like honest, simple classic motorcycles. I have the older version with the discontinued iron barrel engine. It's a 2007 with about 4000 miles on it. When I need to take a nice, country ride for fun and to relieve stress and tension, that's the bike I often take. It's great looking, light in weight, handles well (not sports bike well, but roadster well), mine shifts well and is getting 75-85 mpg to boot. Sounds great too. I baby it because it's the less robust engine.

The response to the C5 has been overwhelming. |

I plan to buy a bike this time I visit India. My old KB4S stuffed in a corner at my Mom's place is falling apart due to neglect. |

Very nice looking and simple. What kind of gas mileage do these get running around 55-65mph?
