It is a highway. They can not restrict who drives through there. I've been told by truckers before 99% of them know the area is not easy for truckers and most divert around it. The 1% who don't are putting all there trust into there gps or they are just tool bags.

This has been discussed before in the thread.. One of the states just made illegal for trucks to use the road.. 50% of the problem solved.

They can if it's a hazard to safety... I remember when I was a kid, living in Texas; there were roads near my home that truckers couldn't down if they were pulling a trailer. It wasn't safe.

North Carolina has done what Tennessee won't do ...... ban trucks heading to the DRAGON. It is now illegal for trucks longer than 30 feet to operate on US 129 anywhere from US 19/74 all the way to the NC/TN State Line. They are also banned on NC 28 from NC 143 all the way to US 129. Also on the ban list is the entire Cherohala Skyway in North Carolina.
New signage will be erected to advise of the Restrictive Routes.
