small roads from Vermont to Renovo, PA.
The Pa back roads have a bunch of old steel trestle bridges like this
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0379.jpg closer to Renovo there was another cool bridge. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0380.jpg then I noticed a water crossing going parallel to the bridge:evil Before: http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0381.jpg After: http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0382.jpg sweet winding roads through central Pa. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0383.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0384.jpg a few dirt roads, but I stuck to pavement mostly for times sake. over 500 miles yesterday, minimal highway. somewheres in the Catskills http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0378.jpg Renovo is an old railroad town that's definitely seen better days, still a very cool working class town on the Susquehanna surrounded my lush green mountains. We stayed right downtown and scored VIP parking. rooms were $30 http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0385.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0387.jpg This morning there was an enduro 10 mi. out of town. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0388.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0389.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0391.jpg into the forest just South of Renovo were some really nice dirt roads and a cool old fire tower. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0393.jpg we came back onto pavement and stopped for refreshments just in time http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0399.jpg It poured for a half hour. my fearless leaders http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0396.jpg This crappy Dam only lasted 2 years and killed 78 people when it broke. It's now a little park. the old abandoned pulp mill is also very cool and just down the road. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0403.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0405.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0406.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...t/DSCN0404.jpg Bill and Rich and I parted ways in Driftwood. They slabbed it back to Cleveland and I took a couple of beautiful county roads down into State College where I'm currently held up. Tomorrow back North and into the Adirondacks |

beautiful area, thanks for taking us along.
Do you have a map or route that you took? I am going to traveling, in a car, from White Sulphur Springs, WV to the Maine coast in early November, weather permitting, and would love to travel some of these roads. John |

Just follow the roads that look like squiggles on the map:evil From W.Va you should be able to hit some great PA roads if you head due North. The 'dacks are great too but may be a bit out of your way heading to Maine. Make sure to check out Acadia and some of the rides/drives around there. and have a lobster roll for me |
