I remember heavy forests, a couple streams and ponds, wild blueberry bushes-- was a great place to roam for a few days as a wide eyed kid.

Very true :nod . I've really only touched on the "bigger stuff"-- still lots of smaller, perhaps less dramatic out there.

Had to look up Kernville-- Looks like a nice area with th NP to the north

you're only 11 hrs or so away :dunno , pick a week in June and hit it
