Sport touring Tire recommendation?
I needing to buy some new treads and would like to hear recommedations for long lasting high mileage sport touring Radials. Most of my riding will be on the slab so finding tires that hold up well in the center is my goal.

I'm considering - They all make claims, would rather here from those that have them and leanr which work best.

Bridgestone Battle Axe 023
Pirelli Angel ST
Dunlop Roadsmart ST
Michelin Pilot Road, Pilot Road 2
Avon V45
Continental Conti Motion, Conti Force

Your input is greatly appreciated

How many miles on them and how are they wearing?

Maybe a 1000 miles
Great.. I belive they are still called pr2's with a 3. You can tell my the new tread design

The only COnti that shoudl be on that list is the Road Attack. The Motion and Force you mention pale in comparison.

I have run Pilot Road2's, COnti Road Attacks, and 023's...I like the 023's the best in the rain, on the freeway, in the cooler weather, and for it's wear resistance, and for it's stability when towing my single wheeled trailer.
I like the Road Attack best for the twisties and appearance (face it-it's the best looking tire available), but it wasn't confidence inspiring on crappy asphalt or wet roads.

PR2 was great in rain, and wore well, but cupped and scalloped badly causing weird vibrations, even before 5000 miles.

Haven't tried the new BT023 but have used a few sets of the BT021 on various bikes and found tread life and traction excellent. My bikes are a fair bit lighter than your new sled though.

Went through the exact same list of tires a few months ago. Ended up with the RoadSmarts b/c they were cheapest. Have been very satisfied and would buy them again.

Used to love Metzler Z6 but I'm fickle and now think the Pilot Road 2s are the bomb. I got an easy 11K out of the first set on my VFR and I change my tires before they're totally shreded. Most of the mileage was communting on SoCal Freeways but they're very confidence inspiring when leaned over. I've put a set on my '98 Triumph. I can't say how long they'll last on the heavier bike but the feel is light years better than the Z6's they replaced. Try'em (it's only a set of tires).

I didn't care for the RoadSmart on my LeMans.

I'd go with the Pirelli.

Pilot Road 3s going on my Versys in a week

Back when I had my Duc ST4s, I used to run the Conti Raad Attacks. Those were a fine tire. Got about 6K out of them, and the stuck like glue. Good in the rain too.

What bike?
What bike?

Roadsmarts are wearing well on my baby Bandit 650. Sticky enough in the dry for trackdays and holding up well in the wet. Too early to verify any mileage claims yet, but no surprises so far.

I like the Road Smarts. I can scrape hard parts and got 12,000 miles on my last rear. The front wears out first on my bike. Not sure why???
