Watch this idea sink like a stone!

I ain't gonna never go too fast again! (..for the most part ;-)

Gonna take more pictures. Gonna maybe bring my fishin pole. Gonna stop to rest, eat, drink, jaw jack, and pee more often. Gonna walk up and down any streams or rivers encountered to study them a bit more carefully. Gonna ride at a pace where jeans, helmet, gloves, work boots, and a t-shirt will be "geared up".

Not gonna rush. Not gonna care how cool or fast my bike is. Not gonna ride in a pack of 20 & 30 & 40 somebodys that are going to go black diamond. I'll stick to the intermediate slopes - thanks.

If it's work - I'll pass. I do that 5 days a week.

Where's my aleve and geritol?

Old Rider Ride
 

Well let me be the second old guy to post.

I have been "tappering off" for several years now and getting to the point where I like Pete's idea. We need to get together more often and take some pictures and stuff.

Here's an idea. We can take a beast ride and see how FEW miles we can cover in three hours.

I'll post too... :gerg

You know it will be harder to find WOOYFFWI if y'all start covering less miles. :deal

If I ride fast and crash a lot we'll cover tha same amout of ground :deal

I guess I'm an old guy cause that sounds like a good idea...

What Bro Petey has touched on, and Maestro Vic knows, is the beauty of Middle Path.

Fast Burn is good and proper.

But there is More, in Less.

And 'old guys'?? Nah :nah Some of the greatest less-is-more riders you'll ever meet are Dallas and Phaedrus, whose ages added together are about my age. And these are some of the most talented/spirited riders i've known

Picture stops? Breaks to shoot the shit? Throttle joy here and there in sub race-pace enviros? That's pretty much how the PAR was founded in the first place :nod

I understand what your talking about and have mostly adopted it as my mantra.

I'll add a bit to your thread.

Still enjoy riding with the inmates from time to time and reading about their exploits here on ADV is always something to look forward in the afternoons after work.

Recently picked up a packable break-down .22 and plink at stuff in the backwoods if its way way in the backwoods. Bought a Poleil pocket fisherman a few years ago to carry with me and wet the lure every now and then. Haven't caught a fish with it yet and don't care if I ever do. Think Sinner caught a few with it at SF1 (that Austr-alien bloke that Eloy and Jerry brought with them :lol3)

Little things to add to the riding experience.



Through the years, many of my riding partners have shifted their interest away from motorcycles to other things, but for four freakin decades now, it still has a exciting/fresh feel and for that I'm grateful.

I dont know what Madhouse is talking about. If he rode any faster, then he would break the sound barrier.
The last time I rode Cheaha I got a real appreciation for riding slow in the back. It's easy to see the sights & I can pick weird lines that I would never notice at a Madhouse pace. It's also easier to stay rubber side down. The only negatives is dust & mud. After 15 people have chewed up a mud hole it's impossible to find a good line. :freaky

Got to get a fishing rod.

Got to remember the camera. (real challenge)

Got to stay away from the fast guys. (Impossible)

Got to forget how much fun it is to do it like a kid.

Rob,,,,I ride at a comfortable pace for me and it doesn't seem like I'm going that fast. Use to scare the bejebees outa myself often years ago, but thankfully have since slowed down a bunch. Crashing hurts and kills brain cells.:D
Guess its perspective.
Over the years, I've ridden with so many fella's that were soooooooo much faster and smoother than me,,,,,, it was if I was holding them up.

Always somebody MUCH faster/smoother out there.

Riding Birmingham area in the mid/late 80's I used to carry a small hammock in my backpack. Bundled up it was about the size of a softball-AND it doubled as a tow rope etc.

I always made it a point to find a cool spot-string it up-kick back in it-if only for a few minutes....just because.

This is one of the main reasons I started riding-bikes got me places no other way could.:clap
