Black Dargon Wash

I need the coordinates for the start of the Black Dragon Wash on the TAT.

I starting the TAT in Buena Vista, Co . I have an Inmate riding with me for the first two days. After that I will be riding alone. I am trying to figure if two days could put us through BDW before he has to head back.

Thanks for any info!
Don

Black Dragon Wash

I don't have the GPS coordinates handy, but it's about 13.5 miles west, southwest of Green River, Utah.

Green River is a scheduled overnight stop, the previous night is Monticello, Utah.

So, you probably won't make it in two days.

You can change the schedule a little bit and maybe make it....

Instead of stopping in Lake City, Co, push over the next few passes and stay in Silverton.

From Silverton, ride to just past Dove Creek to the state line, turn right, go a few miles and you are back on route such that you get into Moab for the night.

That's about the best you can do... I've done Moab to Salida as a day's ride, but it's long....

According to Topo NA 9, you leave the highway approximately:

N38 55.503 W110 25.007

It is ~2.2 miles west of the UT 24 exit off I70. Be careful. It is easy to miss since it is just a dirt road that actually runs right into the interstate - no exit, no sign, no other warning.

Sounds like it may be on the Old Spanish Trail at that point. I have OST tracks on GPSXchange.com

Just looked, Black Dragon turns off I-70 much further west than OST but TAT probably merges with OST at upper end of Buckhorn Wash.
