Upgraded custom oset electric trials bike
I have been upgrading my son's little osetelectric trials bike and this is the end result.
Marzochi inverted shiver forks with 4" travel fully damped an lighter than the junk that comes on these 36v bikes. Had to custom machine upper clamp and used a loer clamp from a 888 dh fork. Fox vanilla coil over with rebound damping( had to re-weld shock mounts. Magura hydraulic disc brakes. And a few other little touches make this machine ride great off road and for trials I just took my 6 year old on a 3 hour hike/trials ride up vail mtn steep single tracks ( carrying 3 25lbs batteries in my backpack... Go figure it went all the way on the ones it had in it) good workout for me I only wish I had an electric trials bike I could ride everywhere. This bike rides so much better than it did stock. I thought some of you guys would like to see what can be done to make these already great little bike even better! <a href="http://s212.photobucket.com/albums/cc303/Goodwinfamilyvideo/?action=view¤t=c44c2a3a.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc303/Goodwinfamilyvideo/c44c2a3a.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a> <a href="http://s212.photobucket.com/albums/cc303/Goodwinfamilyvideo/?action=view¤t=7693edfe.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc303/Goodwinfamilyvideo/7693edfe.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a> <a href="http://s212.photobucket.com/albums/cc303/Goodwinfamilyvideo/?action=view¤t=d33cbcab.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc303/Goodwinfamilyvideo/d33cbcab.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a> <a href="http://s212.photobucket.com/albums/cc303/Goodwinfamilyvideo/?action=view¤t=13fdd8ef.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc303/Goodwinfamilyvideo/13fdd8ef.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a> |
One more picture

These breaks are a little overkill but make it a lot easier to stop with little 6 year old hands ... Espesially in the rough steep stuff <a href="http://s212.photobucket.com/albums/cc303/Goodwinfamilyvideo/?action=view¤t=48ce46ae.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc303/Goodwinfamilyvideo/48ce46ae.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a> <a href="http://s212.photobucket.com/albums/cc303/Goodwinfamilyvideo/?action=view¤t=3e6a1279.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc303/Goodwinfamilyvideo/3e6a1279.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a> |
:clap...excellent...VERY nice work.

:huh
That is so cool........ My son is 2 and rips around on his Strider already. I've been looking at these Osets for the past couple of years for my son. I think you've just shown me what I'll be building soon! You gotta show some more photos of him riding or some video. :D |
Great Job - Those are some great upgrades. I think OSET should do/offer something like this as a "Oliver" bike replica.
|
Really cool.
|
Air shock on the oset
Installed an air shock on it today and it works even beter for Ellis, as it is hard to fid the correct spring rare in the short spring length for the fox vanilla shock.

OSET Upgrades
Suspension mods look great. Now you need lipo batteries. 8 pounds instead of 25 and much higher voltage output and lots more power.
Then you need 20 inch wheels and you'll have a serious contender on your hands. Rick |
wow that is great

So awesome.....
His buddies (and him) must think you're the coolest Dad. Ever. |

20" wheels sound great but I think I would have to limit the fork travel internally to around 3 " or less to allow the use of them. The 16" wheels are still rolling over stuff better than any ttr50 or crf50 . I would like to save 20 pounds on the bike, but I want it to be safe also. Lipo sounds like a lot of work to maintain and may take the fun out of owning an oset for a kid. |
20" wheels
Can one even put a20" wheel on the rear without lengthening the swingarm. Does not look like there is enough room.
|
Oset is working on a 20" bike for next year right now.

lipos and wheels

20 inch wheels do require that the swing arm be lengthen 1.5 inches and you would loose 1.5 inches of available travel in the front with your current fork setup. The trade off is well worth it as the 20 wheel has a much better rollover of small rocks. I have pics of a 20 inch bike here http://s1205.photobucket.com/albums/...20Inch%20OSET/ Rick |
You should sell the machined triple clamps :deal
