Marlinton Motor Inn and BYOB 2012 6/22-6/23

Information page for BYOB 2012

June 22-23

This is a NO FEE rally

Bring any bike

Bring anyplan

Bring one bring all

This rally is about you, It only happens if you attend.

The location and date have been voted upon.

The collective has spoken, with one, somehow imperfect, perfect plan.

After suffering through a long and sometime tedious process of suggestions, lack of commitment, smart assed comments (yours and mine) good information and Interwebs/taptalk confusion

Now it is time to give you a true lay of the land...and rally goodness

The Marlinton Motor Inn in Marlinton WVA was chosen once again.

(I suspect we will forever rotate between here and Galeton Pa from now on)

Location:

Marlinton Motor Inn http://www.marlintonmotorinn.com
Book your room early there are only 50 rooms available.

Many including myself will arrive on Thursday the 21st

Camping:

Yes, for some reason they like us, so camping on site is once again available to us during this weekend.

Yes it is still $20.00 per tent per night.

No reservations required for lawn camping

Their business is hotel rooms not camping so... be thankful, gracious and kind.

If you seek less expensive camping, permit me to recommend:

3 Twisty and dark miles away on cr17

Handley wildlife management area
34. Handley
Location: Pocahontas County
State Route 17, which intersects U.S. Route 219 at Edray approximately four miles north of Marlinton. From the Highland Scenic Highway, turn south on Forest Road 86 (Williams River Road) and state Route 17/4 following WVDNR signs to the area.
Size: 784 acres
Terrain: rolling hills and scattered steep slopes covered in hardwood forests, about 10 percent of the area is in openings
Hunting Prospects: bear, deer, grouse, turkey, waterfowl, woodcock
Fishing Opportunities
Williams River
Small Ponds: 2
Handley Pond: 5 acres - electric motors only
> restricted March through May to Class Q and children 10 and under
> open June through February under general regulations
> no live minnows
Game Fish: largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, trout (stocked)
Accommodations and Facilities
On the WMA: Campsites - 13 primitive with vault toilets and well water

Also camping is available at Tea Creek campground http://www.mountaintravelguide.com/C...Campground.htm

There was a problem bear there last year so take food precautions

Rides:

No official planned rides.

However, there are many who attend that are more than familiar with the area and it's rich resources of gravel entertainment, Hard pan macadam bliss, and the nastiest of raw mud/dirt that the state provides.

Find the person/group that fits your desires.
No one will be left to their own devices unless they want to be.

Yes, there will be. Unless they are in drought conditions and there are burning restrictions in place.

Saturday night meal:

Please let me know if interested by May 20...
I need a horseshoe head count
