Gmail addresses and trialscentral.com?
 

Anybody know if the reason I can't create a new user account for the forums at www.trialscentral.com is because they don't accept gmail addresses?

I've tried to create an account for the forums with two of my gmail addresses to no avail. I read through their Forum-related help docs and didn't find the answer.

Wondering if this assumption is correct...

I set mine up with a gmail account so that shouldn't be the problem....

Really? Are you sure you used a gmail account?

I just got this reply back from their forum admin:

Hi,

Due to the huge number of attempted spammer registrations from
gmail/googlemail addresses we do not allow registrations from them.

I just confirmed that I'm registered with a gmail account too. I must've gotten in before the change.

That's what it sounds like. I just went ahead and created a hotmail account to get in.
The Honda forum is a goldmine.

Now if the rest of the world would get rid of facebook the internet would be a happier place! :D

They will accept Hotmail - Spammer's Central - and not GMail?? :huh

Okay. I guess I won't be going there.

I know. I didn't want to get into a back and forth with the admin. so I went and got a hotmail account, but I was baffled how they could have a no gmail policy but accept hotmail.

Maybe it's because it's a euro site and gmail is the tool of choice for spammers in Europe... just guessing.

It was worth the PIA though just to be able to post in the Honda forum.
