The FY13 Texas OHV decals are now for sale

The FY13 Texas OHV decals are now for sale from the Texas Parks & Wildlife's Customer Service Center (CSC). If you order an OHV decal now, you'll get more than 12 months from that decal (instead of less than one month). You can order an OHV decal by calling the CSC at 512-389-8917.

The OHV decals will be available from vendors which resell the decal beginning next week. You can find a list of locations where the OHV decal can be purchased by visiting the “Where to Buy” section of the OHV pages on the Texas Parks & Wildlife website. Be sure to call the vendor to insure they have decals in stock before traveling to their location.

Here’s a link: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/ohv/

For Dealers who sell the OHV decals. If you have unsold FY12 OHV decals, send those decals to me at the address on the front of the decal booklet and I'll exchange them, one for one, with FY13 decals. You can send whole or partial booklets.

OHV stickers

the 2013 stickers are "new and improved" - they cost $16 this year instead of $8.
rockman needs you to buy them because the extra $8 is to pay his salary....

LOL!...well, this is Texas, not Massachusetts. We ask reasonable questions of our government when they change things.:lol3

But seriously I was just curious. It's a 100% increase, and while there's probably a reasonable explanation, I'd just like to hear it.

Of course I don't know the intimate details, but with just a cursory read of the posts above, it appears the permit is now an annual one vs a term one (month). :dunno

100% increase is better than 12x the price, isn't it?

Now for my question... Why does this thread need to be stickied?

I'm fairly sure that the $8 deal was an annual thing. I've been riding a plated bike, however, so I'm only going by my riding buddies' feedback on price and time application. I also haven't ridden any of Texas' OHV areas. I ride out at Texana Ranch where the Ross Creek Trail Riders reside and where we have the Concho Enduro on the Texas enduro circuit. The only other place I ride in Texas is in the Big Bend area, and you have to have a plated bike to ride the state park, national park, and Terlingua area. I go to Colorado and Utah with some regularity for long periods, and they're trying to go the way of OHV stickers for all vehicles using what used to be our free public lands. And I'm not bringing up that last issue for some kind of pro and con debate.

Why does this thread need to be stickied? Yeah...that's a reasonable question too.

Texan politicians have a genetic aversion to rasing taxes, however they are perfectly fine with rasing "fees".
