I contacted Acerbis to see if they had any plans at all for a gas tank, and this is their reply :cry

I posted a question on the old thread so I'll repost:

I go overseas all the time for work. If anyone is good at researching and doing some legwork, id be happy to go over and bring back some exhaust cans and rear racks. I know guys in Europe and Asia have had the bike longer and they already have some parts available. Just a thought.

Also I talked to fmf today about another bike and asked again about our pipe for this bike. The engineer said mid November was a safe guess. Group buy?

While I'd really like a bigger tank I actually like the steel tank. I can throw my old Nelson-Rigg magnetic bag on it and it sticks even when it shouldn't offroad. I won't be able to do that with a plastic tank.

Instead I'd like a Rotopax capable rear rack. Something with the option to include some panniers/side bag supports.

On road, and it really is to early to tell, I'm getting about 175km to a tank, off road, and this is the amazing part, about 150 -160. Adding an extra gallon to that will get me down the road an extra 100km+

I bought my bike in Orem, UT and took it directly to Ricochet in SLC. They said they would get a bike and get working on a skid plate. Maybe by the EOY.

Seat Concepts is already on it. I offered up my seat, but he said he'd just get one himself. I offered up my bike to IMS, but never heard back. I'm sure they can source one locally.

having a 4+ gallon tank, comfy seat and beefy skid plate is essential for western touring and day riding.

Mike makes very nice luggage racks for a variety of Honda, and other motorcycles. I have owned several of Mike's luggage racks, and several of the other products he manufactures. Mike encourages feedback from his customers, and constantly works to refine his products. After a new luggage rack is fabricated, Mike frequently sends out free prototype rakcs for testing, and feedback. :nod Mike has also refined a RotoPax mounting plate for the XR650L luggage racks, so I'm sure he can quickly modify this mounting plate for a CRF250L luggage rack. :D
