Tether for Zumo 660
Anyone had success tethering their Zumo 660 to their bike? I have a friend who bounced one down an freeway off ramp using the stock garmin cradle with Ram mount. Anyhow, here's one thought but any others?

Agree the stock mount is not "bump" proof. Suggest you get a better mount. I use Touratech Locking Mount. Expensive. Worth it.

Yes, I agree for the Touratech mount is nice, and I have one mounted on another bike. However, because the wiring configuration for the Zumo 660, you aren't really "hot swapping" the Touratech with multiple bikes easily.
So here's what I ended up doing: http://blaster11.smugmug.com/photos/...-ZwHg9MF-M.jpg Here are the parts sourced from Lowes: The Hillman Group Spiral Wrist Band - Plastic Key Rings Item #: 33287 | Model #: 701304 Gardner Bender 10-Piece 1" X 1" Black Mounting Pads Item #: 292685 | Model #: 45-1MBUVL From auto parts store: 3M™ VHB™ Tape 4910 Clear (It comes with foam tape, but I have really good luck with this stuff) I hang the wrist band off the mirror mount. Works with both mounts I have including touratech locking mount and the stocker Garmin mount. |
I've been using a large rubber-band under the handlebar with both open ends brought up and then over the sides of the GPS. That ends Tuesday when I get to work and pick those items off the shelf and do just what you did. Brilliant!

I did the same thing with my 660 as Dorito with the small variation of using a small dog coller (Target) with Fastex buckle. I cut it in half and attached one side to the zip tie mount and the other to the bike. There was a little sewing involved. Works fine. |
I kept it close to Dorito's but went with a Jogger's clip. I use a wrist coil for my keys.
