225's Teardrop Camper Build
Thought you guys would like to see my teardrop camper build...

Everything I ever built, there was always a gray area of a build. Including cost, time, effort, etc....

My Yamaha is a great example of that. So was the first attempt at my teardrop build. So this time I am going to document EVERYTHING on this build. To see how much time, and money it really costs. In addition to all that, I will be doing a time lapse video of the progress as well. So you guys will be able to physcially see what I'm doing.

Just for reference, I am using a guide to build my teardrop camper. So this is not a 100% custom design. But I am not following the guide except as a guideline of how to construct the actual camper. The guide can be found HERE

A removable rail will go on the tongue for a bike.

Here estimated prices. And still a lot to add.

Windows: 15"Hx18"W $56.00 x 2 + $25 shipping - $135
Hurricane Hinge for hatch: $90
Perko power inlet: $70
Marine battery: $120
Battery charger/tender: $100
12v marine power cutoff/ Perko: $40
Skin: $90 a sheet x 6: $540
Perko door hinges: $118
Door latches/locks: 100
All moulding: est around $200
Wiring: ??
Trailer lights: $100
2 car stereos. One in/one out- $200 x 2: 400

Side tent: $300 (exact)
Steel: $300
Axles: 260

Estimated: $5000. So let's say 6k.

Sounds like a lot. But these campers are the cat's meow. Once you see it in person, you will see why.

Anyway more to come.

Now we are current on the progress.

Axles came in the mail:

Ordered wheels and center caps:

And stabilizer jacks for the rear of the trailer:

Ill buy tires when I get the wheels in.

Wheels shipped: $184.83 for 3 wheels
3 Center caps: $25.47
2 Stabilizer jacks: 38.94 shipped

TCI: $510.16

Now I am going with a military type theme for my TD. So for the tongue box that the a/c will fit in:

I am thinking about a box like this:

I am still researching everything. When I have my mind made up,I will make a move.

Also, I work on a boat. So when I get in on the 5th, I will buy the steel and build the frame.

I've been toying with the design profile for a while. Since a lot of the stuff I want to do doesn't fit in the "classic" category, neither should the profile.

So I'm not going with a classic of classic hybrid profile. I am going with a design called the " Weekender" originally designed by the owners of the teardrop trailer forum

A profile like this:

Here is the layout. It will be modified a little bit.

Anyways, carry on...

I am currently building one too. I had an autocad design just like the one you have but have decided to tackle a more traditional radius shape. have fun!

225, build looking good so far.

3 of my mates built these teardrops. (sorry for the hijack)

That's awesome. Mine will weigh too much to pull it with a bike.

Times are GMT -7.   It's 11:56 PM.
