DL650 seats
 

I am in the market for a new seat for my 08 DL650. I have not seen any new threads about seats for my bike. I am really considering the corbin, trying to decide between the modular or the canyon dual sport.
I have read a lot about russels and all the myers and all of those true custom seats, but i live in Ohio and seems like a lot of work, money and time to invest in one of those.
I am 5'8" 160lbs and slinder in build, expect for my beer belly.
All in all i am just looking for some feedback from fellow wee strom owners.

Corbin, in my experience, has been disappointing in fit, quality, comfort and customer service, or lack thereof.

Moved to Beasts.

:deal I put a Sargent seat on my 2009 Wee Strom. It's a huge improvement over the pos that came on the bike. I'm 5'7" tall with a 29" inseam. Good luck.

Stay away from Corbin, they are comfortable for me but as stated above the fit is bad. If you have a problem the customer service flat out sucks!

If you want off the shelf go Sargent, I love mine.

I have a Corbin for my 2012 DL650 and am satisfied with it. I have read a lot of threads like this asking about this seat or that seat. Unfortunately it seems there is no seat that will be comfortable to all. You are taking a risk with whatever seat you decide on. There is no question that paying $500.00+ for a seat that isn't comfortable really sucks but that is the risk you are taking. Good luck.

My used 07 Wee came with a Corbin-most comfortable seat I've ever had!
Three problems:
The front section is a bit wide and kept me from being flat footed (31" inseam) until I lowered the bike.
I'm not a seat whore but the stock seat was the most uncomfortable one I've had (other than a 98 Buell S1).
The thing weighs a ton.

I owned a Corbin for a week. The width of the seat was a deal breaker for me. I was on my tippey toes at the stoplight. Ended up trading it for a Rick Meyer seat from another inmate and couldn't be happier.

Seat Concepts firm foam...don't try to diy send them your seat. I've done a couple of 1k mile days without monkey butt.:clap

I got a Rich's seat on my DL650 and after 40k miles I couldn't be happier. He is local to me so I saved on shipping but I think the custom route is worth it.

Really, firm foam? I am only 160 soaking wet with my boots on. Also, is it a true 9/16 taller than stock? Im only a 30" inseam.

I have a Corbin Modular on my 07 Vee and I'm 5'8" with a 29.5" inseam. While the width of the seat can be somewhat disconcerting in some situations, I have found it to be extremely comfortable for long distance riding. This past summer I completed an Iron Butt Bun Burner Gold and had no issues with Monkey Butt or discomfort.

my corbin for my 2012 dl650 was $488 to my door. it arrived in 5 days. it would not fit. witnin 5 minutes, i was talking to corbin customer service and they instructed me on how to install the seat for the FIRST TIME (rub a dab of WD-40 on the rubber bumpers). now it clicks in first time every time. i rode it 500 miles to the mountains to break it in, getting out of the seat once. 2 days later with 1500 miles on the seat, it was perfect. FOR ME, the seat is great, the company is great, and the customer service was great. no here say...just my experience. since i can't ride for 3 more months (doctor's orders), i loaned my bike to Sargent to use in developing their new seat for the 2012. I'll be getting a Sargent seat to compare against the Corbin.

I should have posted my height and weight. I'm 235 so firm foam worked well. It was a little taller than stock (maybe 1/2" or so) and with the firm foam I didn't sink down as far either. I'm 6'1" so a little added leg room was welcome. My bike is quite tall as I have raised it 25mm front and rear, but I can still flat foot it. You might want to give Seat Concepts a call if that is the way you decide to go.
