New Metzler Karoo 3
available in thumper sizes too!
i know alot of you don't wander outside of thumpers. http://us.ridexperience.metzeler.com...oo-3-at-eicma/ http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=850134 |
Not knobbly enough. :D

I like them,it will be competition between these and the tkc 80.
Those Karoo 3 would probably make a good KLR tire.I wonder what kind of mileage they will bring with normal adventure riding. |

i'd run the rear with a TKC or TR8 front. |
I actually just put my OEM Metzeler Sahara back on to replace my rear T-63. No complaints about the T63 - it's just loud and I was wearing it down on asphalt. I really like the Saharas for what they are - a road biased DS tire. They seem more aggressive than the new Karoo. With how well the Sahara does on the street, I'm not sure I would need something like the Karoo. I'll probably get over 8K miles out of the rear Sahara.
I am leaving my TKC on the front as it is quieter than the T63. If I plan on doing any longer dirt rides, I'll put the T63 back on the rear. But for my street heavy DS riding, the Saharas are pretty good. Not sure why they don't get more attention, other than price, |
Until you run them and corner them and trail them you won't know anything.
Just looking.... Drop the pressure to 18/14 psi and get back to me after a few hundred miles of dirt and gravel. And be reasonable with the throttle. Metzler always made good tires for the rich. bill |

If they last long enough, they might be a good rear tire combined with a MT21 front or similar. How much would we expect this tire to cost in a 140/18? |
Has any one tried the New Karoo Metzelers?
|
The pattern on the rear looks pretty good for light dirt or gravel, but the knob height sure appears to be low. A few miles and I wonder how much grip will be left? My nearly worn out TKC80 rear looks to have nearly as much tread depth as the Karoo 3 new. I'll reserve final judgement for when I see one in person. My Sahara rear has much more tread depth than that shown on the Metzler site.

What price in the US. They will be dear down here in New Zealand.
