Hard Luggage/Cases, Side and Top Cases question..

I just bought a Vee with SW-Motech Evo Trax luggage but I think they're a little small for my taste
and I was thinking of selling the whole set (sides and top) and getting something else but I am having
a really hard time finding any options that I like for the SIDES.

I'm looking for fairly big cases (mine are 37L I think).

My top case only holds one helmet for instance.

Could you guys help me out with some links/recommendations so I can find something else?

By the way, I'm NOT an adventure rider, I don't plan on going far so they don't have to be of super
quality or be very expensive. I really just want to be able to haul stuff and groceries.

I mean, they should be strong enough to hold a bunch of stuff and hopefully weatherproof
but BIG.

Thanks

George

I can't speak for top cases, but I've got Caribou (Pellican) side cases on SW Motech racks, and love 'em. Those cases are TOUGH. I had a wreck in Croatia bad enough to total the bike (had it re-built anyway) but not only did those heavy side cases probably save my left leg from being crushed by the VW that hit me, they're still useable. One of 'em is a bit ground down on the bottom, but they're still watertight. If you've alreadu got the EVO racks, you can get a kit from Caribou with attachment hardware that bolts right to those racks.

Problem is, I don't think they make'em that big do they or will any size pelican case fit?

I like pelicans and I've had several.

Another thing, if it's the one's I think (and they look like pelicans), I don't like the look (no offense) and I think I've seen some on Vees that were for sale.

Top cases are NO problem as I can find plenty, it's the side cases I have a hard time with.

I kinda like the Givi 52 liter trekkers and I think they can mount on top and on the sides.

Thanks

No offense taken -- not everyone likes the look, but they work well for me. I think the 52L trekkers can be mounted as side cases too, and they are bigger than my Caribou cases. Another possibility is to take any flat-sided case you like and use a kit like this to mount them. Just make sure that whatever the case is made of is strong enough to hold its own weight, plus the weight of its intended cargo, in a dynamic setting.

Givi

Another vote for Givi cases.
I've got the V46, E52, and E55 on various rides.
Price is decent (especially when getting a used on in the FM), and these will all hold 2 full size face helmets if you need to.

They don't get much bigger than the Micatech Pilot cases.

Another vote for Givi. I've had several Givi cases and they all worked very well and were waterproof, solid locks, easy on and off the bike. Just my $0.02.

Army Ammo cans! They come in all sizes and are cheap as dirt in comparison.

But, I'm an army guy, so army green doesn't look so bad after the years

Well, I like the look of the E52 Maxia and they can be mounted on the sides too so I have options and I like their LIGHT option too so considering the GIVI importer is down the road from me, I think I'll pop in there as soon as I get my bike on the road and check it out.

Then of course, I have to put the Trax stuff up for sale and get it sold :)

If you want a decently large quality case that is fairly inexpensive, check out the Givi E45NJ. It's a 45L case without any of the bells and whistles. However, it's Givi quality and only about $150 shipped. I got mine from Revzilla.

Thanks. I also looked at the Coo Cases which I kinda liked.

The hunt is on :)

I can vouch for the strength of the Micatech cases. Not cheap, though.

I have a set of Jesse's for my Tiger and like them. They are rugged and weatherproof and a good size, being over 100L combined for the two panniers in my case. I had one near side get off on pavement and the case took the punch with no distortion of the case or mounting framework, only ground down the aluminum on the corner. They are not the lowest priced though, so could be a little overkill for just picking up groceries. A 4L jug of milk does fit nicely into them.

I am going next week to Givi which happens to be close to me and I'll look at their stuff. I don't much like the square look of the cases.

We'll see what happens :)

Thanks guys
