Monokey top mount for side bags?
Is the option even viable? I have a monokey universal plate for top box mounting on a rack. I'll be wanting to add some hard saddlebags, small ones, to the bike and wondered if these plastic plates, mounted to a steel/aluminum frame to the bike, would be strong enough to hold them. Nothing too heavy, just clothes. I see them list the rectangular tube frames for side cases but not these. I believe the monokey cases all use the same fixing points so, any opinions?
Thanks. |
Sure. I have the Monolock (which is supposed to be weaker than the Monokey) mounted to an aluminum plate, and that thing is sturdy enough for what you want. You would have to make it yourself, though.
Givi does make smallish saddlebag holders, which typically mount to the same points as the top rack. The Easylock saddlebags are hybrid soft/hard, and I'm happy with them on my Dorsoduro. |
Thanks, it is for a Ninja 300 so I have to fab anything I want either way.

If you have some sort of rack setup, you can get the Monokey mounting hardware from Twisted Throttle. Basically, you get the two posts and the "pyramid" that can be bolted to virtually anything.
Something like this, I think: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/sw-mo...-monokey-kappa |
Another good option, I missed those. Thank you.
