Show us your Maico!
I love the Bul thread. Were are all the Maico's? I don't see that many here. I would love to see more. I use to love them back in the early/mid seventies. Just for their looks if nothing else. Plus the midwest had some experts that could fly on them back then. Not to mention some national and world level pro's!

They ran out of primary chains. :rofl

i would have a pic, but i just rebuilt the motor and set it in the frame today - 1977 aw400. - it's in average shape - not doing a restore, just doing motor/suspension, etc. then deciding what to do with it.. - i also have a project 1980 250 i might be getting rid of....
|
I have a 72 MC250 patiently waiting restoration but it's a bit too buried to take a pic of.
|
Does my 2004 Maico qualify, or is it too new for this thread?:D
|
I still have hope. I would love to get my hands on a '76 250MX. I think it was a 250MX. Not yet red. Banana swingarm. Crude and rude!
I don't remember how much they typically weighed. I hope they were light since above all else I hate heavy bikes. But please! Don't bring up 'claimed' weights! Let's stick with reality. |

Tell me about this '80 250 project that may need a new home. |

I have 2 Maico's on file. The first one is Tony D's last race bike and the actual bike he started his schools with. It's considered to be one of the greatest MX bikes, the '81 490.

Sorry there's not more of the bike, it's all I had:wink: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/donzzilla/8422781647/" title="ErikaMaico by donzzilla, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8086/8422781647_3fc2850256_s.jpg" width="75" height="75" alt="ErikaMaico"></a> |
I don't have any Maicos anymore. Here's my last one, a 1978 Magnum.

Yea! I guess they went red in '77?
|
yep red in 77.
|
I hope I warned everybody that I don't know much about them having never been around them much. Maybe that explains my love for them? :D I do love the looks of them. Especially the pre-red ones. Plus, like I said earlier, I have seen some guys kick ass on them!
