990 Adventure
How hard is it to hack a 990 Adventure or SE? Has anyone here done it?
|
Never been tried , nor has there been a thread in this forum asking that question.

So did I :lol3 Typed ktm 990 adventure sidecar into google and got some hits ... as usual , ADV had the best results including those pics in a thread. http://www.google.com.au/search?q=99...w=1280&bih=709 And the link to where I got the pic's from that discusses your question. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=718496 . |
We get asked several times every year about doing one of these. So far no one has brought us a bike to design off of. I see no real issues doing this bike.

The only difficulty I see with the 990, especially the SE, is the high center of gravity on those right-handers. As long as you can deal with that OK, I think a 990 hack would be a cool backcountry rig! Looks like on those rigs in the pics above, all of them are sitting lower than a solo bike which to me kinda makes good sense. Low profile car tires and leading links.

The biggest downfall would be the engine.

When you're sitting along side the road, trust me it's not funny. I have one!

Hi boyd32450
A few years ago i was thinking about fitting a sidecar on to my ktm 950 adv . The 950 adv is gone ,so i will never know how good or bad it would have been :cry. I went with the bmw 1150 gsa instead. I still think that a 950 - 990 adv with a Leading link front end and the 40lt tanks would make a unreal setup for off road . That photo of the blue Romer outfit still gives me a stiffy :1drink http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...f/101_1403.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...f/101_1401.jpg Cheers Ian |
