First ride of the season on my C70

Despite the fact we still have cool temps and snow in some parts of Newfoundland, I decided today was a good day to take a ride. Man, it feels good being out on two wheels again.

Wait, there is a season on these things?

Nice Bro mines in the shop cant wait to take it out.

That thing looks brand new, and probably is. Can you still buy them new there? I had one back in the mid '80s and sold it. Like so many other bikes I had in the past, I would love a chance to buy another one brand new.

Very Nice

Very nice ride. I am searching for one with a title (project or in running condition). Last year I picked one up with no title in great shape it was never even registered and there she sits. Waiting.

It's an '82. The owner prior to me kept it in his rec room for 15 years. It has been babied. I love it. I had a blue '83 too but sold it to a friend last fall. Here's a couple pics.

I hear ya. I searched quite a bit for mine. I found the blue one locally. I found my red one in New Brunswick, bought it sight unseen and had it shipped. No regrets. Good luck with yours.

Haha. I have a friend who rides year round. The salt and ice deters me so I park my toys til April. That said, I had my Aero 80 out on New Years Day.

very nice ride!!! I do not know what is like to be apart from my ride because of winter, but it must not be cool!

Glad you are back on it!

Thanks

Thanks man. It's good to be back on two wheels.

This is my other scoot. Picked it up last fall for next to nothing. All it needed was a front tire and a new battery. It's an '85 Honda Aero 80, 2 stroke. Great fun.

I got a little sports car too that I just took out of storage. This pic was taken on a coastal road about 10 minutes from my office. We have some nice scenic roads here in NEWFOUNDLAND.

You have a fine appreciation for open air conveyances! :clap Especially significant, considering your latitude. Kudos!

And, that C70 is a classic. A Honda C90 was the very first motorized two wheeler I ever rode (a friend's)... a long, long time ago.

Best wishes,
Jim

my first two-wheeled moto that got me into the game was a 1963 Honda 50 Super Cub. I sold because it had some aspiration problems, but i should have courageous and tore into the engine a bit more. I got a Ruckus following that, strapped a 150cc gy6 on it, stretched it, etc, then moved on to a ducati, then a supermoto, and now i made my way back to a ct70 mini trail. and once I fix it up, I'm aiming for a c70 passport. Back to the classic design era of Honda fame.

Thanks for that Jim. I DO LIKE my open aired conveyances, lol. Despite the latitude in NL, there are actually a lot of others like me here. You should check out ridetherock.com sometime, if you haven't already (another great community of enthusiasts). BTW a former co-worker of mine popped by my office yesterday to show me her brand spanking new PCX (in black). She retired in January and spent the past month in Mexico. She and her hubby rented a house and a couple of scooters. When they got back to Canada she decided to ditch her Harley Sportster and buy a scooter. Before buying her scoot, she came to me for advice (and to see if I had anything for sale, because up until a few months ago I had two Passports). After hearing her out in terms of where she'd be riding, how much she was prepared to spend etc, I suggested the PCX and that she check out this forum. I also told her your story. I think that together we influenced her. I was tickled pink to see her on it.

Gedupsound, I relate to you. Though I've never owned a Ducati, I have done the full circle thing of going from scooter to various other bikes (cruiser, supermoto, etc) back to a smaller bike. I ride my C70 every chance I get. Yesterday I was chatting with a guy on a BMW FS800 at a stop light and he told me how much he liked my Passport. I don't think he knew much about them and was amazed to hear that it's 31 years old. The light turned green and off we went. You should post up some pics - sounds like you've had some pretty cool rides. I'd love to see what you did to your Ruckus.

Hey klx, I did check out ridetherock - another good forum. Some folks down south can't imagine bike ownership in the northern climes, but I recently heard that the 3 biggest scooter markets are in the snow-belt: Denver/Boulder, Minneapolis/St. Paul, and Chicago. We spent 3 decades in the Black Hills (western South Dakota), and frequently heard that the Black Hills area had the highest H-D ownership per capita... of course, that may have something to do with the influence of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. :evil

It won't happen this summer, but I'm looking forward to riding the scoots in the Black Hills - some of the best motorcycle roads we've ridden. South Texas (where we are currently) has plenty of warm weather, but great motorycle/scooter roads are lacking... no hills, not that many curvy roads. Until getting these scooters, I never considered just bopping around town to be particularly enjoyable. Looks like you have the roads... as long as Mother Nature does her part.

Best wishes,
Jim
