Hit from behind

So sitting at a red light on my V-Strom and, as always, I check the rear view for traffic coming from the rear. I looked in rear view and saw the driver behind me was approaching with eyes off the road.

The impact wasn't real bad, but bike was disabled, driver had no insurance.

Positive out of this was pulling bike forward about one meter when I realised impact was gonna happen. Shared stories with work mates has this common theme (i.e. always keep bike in gear at lights or lane split to the front at the light).

2 months out and still chasing insurance for repairs (WA ins. sucks).

First and hopefully last post in this forum.

:D

So sorry for your accident. You have reminded me that I need to not put my bike in neutral until after there is a vehicle behind me. I have been watching when I approach stops to make sure that the people behind me are paying attention.

Good luck with the no insurance, just got thru this type of situation with an auto.

Sorry to hear.
I have had the same thing happen except I heard the car slamming on his brakes and I was able to get out of the way. They hit the car that was in front of me at about 10 mph. I learned to keep it in gear a long time ago and I also never stop behind a car, I am always very close to the lines on the sides of a lane. I hate seeing all these riders stop 2 feet from the car in front of them, right in the middle of the lane. You are just setting yourself up for a no escape accident.

Hope everything works out.

Glad you walked away from it. I am two years this May into this type of adventure. I checked my mirrors then watched a pedestrian walk across the crosswalk, only then to realize I was a hood ornament on Dodge Dynasty...
Hope the best for you and getting things back in working order...

That sucks big time. I had almost the same expirience but with a car. Thank God that the friver who hit me had insurance...

I hope you didn't suffer any serious injuries. Good luck settling with insurance for repairs or replacement.
