funny stuff, I wonder if the new Indians will have anything that would make them better or really different.

Mista Vern 07-04-2013 02:40 PM

That's great - thanks! :lol3

I guess the real funny part, is the bike is dirty as if it's actually gone somewhere. I can count on one hand the number of H.D.'s I've seen that dirty.

blaine.hale 07-05-2013 07:38 AM

I think the new motor design looks fantastic.

To me, it had the "been sitting unused for two years" look.

Open garage windows...

and Arizona dust storms will do that. Takes awhile though.

I'm glad it's a unitized engine.

As a guy old enough to remember original Indians being on the road and living through a number of reincarnations, I am pretty eager to see how Polaris is going to handle their design. Hope they really do something special, as they have a ton riding on this venture.

I have to wonder who this offends more, Harley or Victory owners. As a past owner and huge fan of Victory I know it kinda pisses me off. What, Victorys are not and have not been a viable choice in American motorcycles??
It's like Polaris is completely dismissing their own product. If Indian just ends up just being high priced ass jewelry, Victory will end up being the only real other choice. IMHO.

I don't think 18k counts as high priced ass jewelry.

I have no dog in this fight and will keep riding my old airhead until I die or win the lottery, so take this with a grain of salt: I applaud Polaris and the Victory line, but their designs are such that they are not everyone's cup of tea. If they can pull off getting Indian into the fray they can take a lot of Harley customers that don't care for the Victory line-up due to style.

does anyone else see it?

Nothing to laugh about with the new Indian. For the first time since the original manufacturer went bust in the 50s, somebody (Polaris) is doing it right.

If they stick to classic design themes and first-rate quality they will have discovered a formula of success already enjoyed by H-D.

An interesting point that someone has already brought up is the Victory line. This current marketing campaign about "finally a choice," sort of slaps their own Victory lineup!

I agree with it, though. The outlandish Arlen Ness-inspired designs of the Victory models have never appealed to me. So, to that degree, for me, there has not been much of a choice.

The bizarre lines, forward foot controls and medieval axes are crazy and turn many people off from the Victory models. Sales have been dismal to reflect this.

The new Indian is their chance, Hope they don't blow it. Looks good for now.
