Smells like fuel!
Hi to all, after a very nice ride today with my new to me 1150gs, my wife commented that my clothes smell of fuel!! My sense of smell is dead so I never noticed it!! Could my 1150 be running rich? Any idea of what tweaks should I try? When starting from cold it still needs 'choke'. The 1150 is a 2001 single spark and fuel here could be the worst grade in the world! Any suggestions are welcome :)

Check the fuel couplers under the tank on the right side... they could be weeping fuel if the o-ring is worn or possibly a loose clamp on a fuel line.

Could be cracked tank vent hoses or the tank cap was not closed tight.

If your fuel lines are getting old and hard they will sometimes weep/leak where they are clamped to the fuel distributor. (right side under the cover)
Start by checking there (engine running)
If so replace with 5/16" fuel injection hose SAE type R9

I have checked the fuel pipes fir leaks while engine is running, no leaks! The smell comes from the exhaust! It is running rich i guess. How do you lean the mixture?

What is the mileage?
If you have access to a GS 911, scan it for for faults, 02 sensor, temp sensors etc.
Check the plugs, are they black or very light tan/white? Are they both the same?
Get the injectors tested for flow and shutoff

Have you removed the canister recently?

That is the warning that they give in the recall for 2005 - later

Wrong series of bike.
Were are talking Oilhead, not Hexhead.

Milage is 28k km's , no access to gs911!! But I will check the plugs.. What canister you mean? Air filter? If so I changed it to a new k&n last dec when i got the bike!

Fuel lines
Remove the fuel tank & replace both fuel lines. They are weeping at the connections. Be sure to use new clamps designed for fuel injection lines.:evil

Did you get fuel on your hands or clothes at the gas station?
