I ran one on a DR650 a while back and it worked...

I ran one on a DR650 a while back and it worked fine. The small gap just above the headlight gives you some balance air behind the windshield to break up the buffeting.

I'll second that. The stock guards are OK for keeping a bit of wind off of your hands but they're not strong enough to protect your levers in the event of a minor get-off.
