EXACTLY! Shoei is slowly driving me away with the changes to their helmet sizing and shape. Shame - I was a huge fan. I have 3 RF1100s just so that I'll have something to wear for a while... :huh

Similar build here and I switch between 3 Jackets during the year. Main jacket is an Olympia Moab, but in 4xl. These are on closeout right now so they may be hard to find, but the 4xl does fit me....

And yes, you have to get to the connector which is under the back part of the seat. The GTL seat is one piece so it's pretty easy. I tend to take it off for a while...
