it's loud enough using directly to er6i. the main reason to use a headphone amp would be to control the volume without having to use the touchscreen...would have been nice to have dedicated volume...

FWIW, i gave up on parallels and instead installed XP via boot camp. works great, although i had to do a 12GB partition for windows...good thing i installed a 160GB hard drive on my macbook a month...

i agree with blitzkrieg...i use my er6i with an ipod shuffle for most long trips. great dual use as earplugs and in-ear monitors...and since you can get them for abou $80, it's not a terrible loss...
