You probably have linked brakes and the front end will not compress when just locking the front brake (which is actually putting on the back brake too) like people do with front forks on other bikes....

I ground down the pivot peg so that it cleared the screw head and I also removed the one tooth that was the most likely to hit the rear brake master cylinder rod in the event of a crash.
