Just replaced the second H7 in my '12 GSA at 14K miles. I always carry a spare as my '07 did the same. It's my understanding that the H7 bulb just has a short life. At least they are easy to change....

Having owned a machine shop and built many engines (mid 90s), I agree that replacing the valve is fine. The only reason I was going to push for the entire head assembly...

My guess is the piece is stuck in the cat converter as Disco Dean stated. I looked at the cylinder walls and piston with the mechanic and found no evidence the piece went into the engine.

My 2012 GSA has the same sound between 40 and 50 mph. Sounds to me like tire noise from the Tourance EXPs. It does not sound like a bad bearing or final drive.
