It's possible the previous owner had SC use a denser foam (firmer) than standard. I have then same seat using standard foam and it's pretty darn comfortable (I'm 180lbs).

Just a guess, but double check your not pinching a vent hose when you're installing the tank. That mouse like squeak maybe air trying to get past a pinch and eventually if no air in, no gas to pump.
