I would have checked the valve clearance before doing a compression check. that way you would have seen exactly how your decomp works, you know cause you can see it through the inspection cover.

Sounds like a sheared woodruff key to me, make sure to replace with genuine yamaha bit.at least you won't need a puller to get the flywheel off.:D

I think your right,there are meant to be only two alignment pins between the crankcase and the cylinder.the base gasket should have two larger holes for the dowels.

parts bin engineering, the trick is learning the code, i think the part number shows what model the part was first used on.as for your model it would be the first three digits of your engine...

meams it looks like you have the neutral switch wire routed wrong it need to be protected from that front sprocket,it should be in front of that bottom bolt stuffed into the gap.and you need way more...

hold carb at eye level where you can see the float pin touching the tang on the float,then tilt the carb until the the two bits just start to get friendly. when you find the angle put the carb down...

it is in the clutch side cover between the oil pump and the oil filter. with the cover off it is a round rubber seal with a ball in it and over time the rubber seat will get brittle.i discovered this...
