Have you made the air box snorkel mod or got an Evo1 lid? Aftermarket can, easier breathing air box and the Evo1 map should solve your problems. The KTM 690 TuneECU thread is your friend.

I just use a cheap tarp, works fine with bungees hooked to the bike, and doubles as a foot print for the tent when I'm camping. Also good for changing tyres on - keeps the dirt off hubs etc.
