Treat yo' self fred. I don't know if you ever rode my r90 but good lord does that extra bit of CC help. That r90 was a monster. That's literally the only thing I miss about it.

I use vinegar for my stripping. Works great. Just crappy white vinegar from any store. Most recommend it soaking for 24 hours. I usually do around 48 hours.

I've had really good luck and ease with the POR15 kit. Caswell is pretty awesome too. You can't loose with either of the two.

Hah! Touche. Funny enough, one of the idle set screws rattled off my guzzi somewhere on the interstate. My front fender tried to do the same but the brake lines kept it on.

Yes, that's a dust cap and that lock nut is to pre-load the bearing.
After those, the top triple plate goes on then a 32mm (or 36, I've forgotten) nut holds the top triple plate down.
