You need to figure out if you really are going to ride asphalt that much.
Anything dirt and the KTM 500 is the bike.
If you are 20/80% asphalt/dirt you will be fine with the 500.

Kind of afraid to use the pump body from an 08. Extracting the fuel line piece from the cap of an 08 without taking the whole pump will be a very difficult procedure.
