Absolutely.

A fan, either OEM or TrailTech, will make all the difference in the world. It is an absolute necessity on these engines.

Exactly.

I install these small inexpensive tachs on all of my dirt bikes. They are most useful for idle speed adjustments and are also helpful to give RPM readings at steady cruising speeds.

Acerbis 13 Liter Tank

The HardParts 13 liter tank is made by Acerbis and uses the 1/4 turn cap. It is a great tank with plenty of room for the OEM fan.

As a test, squirt some WD40 in the bottom of an empty aluminum soda can and let it evaporate overnight. The residue left is definitely a fairly viscous oil.

I would suggest 200 F (93 C). There is no sense in setting it lower than 200 F unless you want the fan running all the time. 200 F will keep the engine plenty cool enough.
