I had the same thing happen, and found somewhere on the net the suggestion to use a slightly longer bolt.

I've been running that solution for a few years with no issues.

Toss the in-line filters, if the petcocks are stock there are already filters there.

It is possible to see fuel in the in-line filters, but it isn't flowing well.

You can fit the points in a bean can from 1979-80 onto an electronic bean can bike. You need to change the coils as well.

+1 take the whole system to pieces from the rear brake lever on back, clean and lube.

Both my old R60/5 and current R80G/S can lock the back with light pressure.

Easy way to verify that's what it is for certain.
