My 81 g/s has that system. I removed it and put in an R1150 drain bolt and crush washer. Got the engine nice and hot and gave it one more eighth turn. It flows fresh air to the exhaust port to ignite...

Needles are the same and as-new. It's the spring clips in the slide that are different. When each needle is on the first notch, one needle is longer than the other. So I matched the actual length....

I got the boot on by pulling the battery box and shock to have room to work. And then realized I didn't tighten the driveshaft bolts. So I got to do it twice. Good times.

Popping like air is getting into the inlet, or too lean. Backfire type popping. Not pinging. I timed it with a strobe. Spot-on.

People have been known to leave a race in there when powdercoating. So long as they don't hit it with the sandblaster, it can be done.
