I agree. It is pricy, but sometimes it well worth the dollars if it allows for stress free parking.

I have a Nuvi 550. It also has a rubber gasket and I haven't had problems with corrosion on connectors.

It has a usb connector for power - so I suspect that over time it can become corroded.

I use Basecamp and import routes into the SD card. Works well.

Also I think there is a hard limit to the number of waypoints (200??) you can import on a nevi 550.
