I am running a BMW airhead with close to 200K miles on the piston and chrome rings, Nikasil bore....

Now add freah stuff to the rez and pump a few reservoirs...

Maybe I'm crazy but I think if you loosen the carb and turn it sideways and then remove the idle fuel screw and spring and o-ring and blow compressed air...

If the intake valve settings start to loosen noticeably I'd have a look.

Some seem to last longer than others. I had one fail at 24K KM....

The head will come off with the engine in place.

Do you have fresh oil in the airbox, if you don't have fresh oil in there I'd leave the head alone....

They are Phillips and I replaced mine with allen heads from Ace Hardware.

To get them loose if they are over tight or you wreck the Phillips head...

With the carb disassembled check the float setting and the pilot jet for plugging....
